Recovery Section?

Have had some thoughts about where we might take this site. These are starters for 10 - everybody please chip in with your ideas. This has to be a site that is used and wanted and owned by the fellowship (maybe via a proper committee) but not run by one or two un-named individuals.

If it is to be sustainable we should be not be competitive with the official site, but rather complementary, providing things they do not.

Possibilities are to restructure the Forum to take out all the existing sections, and replace with, for example, Newcomers - a place for newcomers to ask questions; Recovery - a place to for people to share there experience, strength, and hope (and ask questions); Public Information - a place for PI people to share what they have been doing; A Cafe - a place to put all the non-recovery related stuff - jokes - snippets; Technical - a place to share how members have solved problems
(or to ask questions) - aimed at RECLOs and ECLOs primarily.

We can add pages to the front of the site as appropriate. We will need a new front page stating what we do, and what our policies are.

Unlike the official site, we should be completely open - our committee must be prepared to state their names (AA names - not pseudonyms) and contact emails (they can be forwarders via the aa-gb.org web site, or whatever), and maybe short biographical details. So that would be a pre-requisite for joining the committee.

No secrecy. Moderation of the forums, yes - of course - but only where absolutely necessary. You will be able to type words like Google without the wrath of Forum Admin pouring down on your head. And no secret sections - no hidden bits behind passwords - all open - all above board.

To start us off in a democratic manner the time has come to vote on whether we should have a recovery section (maybe two)

AA breakdown service

AA would not attend breakdown they said phone the police and ask them to move it to a safe location
as they deemed it a ''live lane'' (inside lane of a dual carriage way) the police said it was safe for recovery
and even after police spoke to them they still refused to attend.
Such calls are not recorded but just logged. So they don't have a true record of what is said. Absolutely
ridiculous practise of working I feel.

Apparently they are only allowed to assist when the vehicle is out of the traffic flow
also they are not allowed to attend ''live lane'' incidents without the express permission
of the relevant authorities.
That must rule out most of the roads!

What was the song accompanying their advert? oh yes, You just call out my name and you know
wherever I am I'll come running to see you again, winter spring summer or fall all you have to do is call
and I'll be Ihere!

Not very happy especially as had to pay £150+vat for local firm.

AA don't do as it says on the box!

This forum enables you to display or hide your email address. I normally turn the 'Hide email address' option ON when new members register. If you prefer to reveal your email address to other registered forum users then you can navigate to the setting using this route

Member Center > Board Settings

and you will find various options that you can turn on (or off).
